Powered by Mom Blog wants you to stay safe this Summer!
Make sure to be prepared and protect yourself and your family this summer. You all probably know most of what is on this great infographic but it doesn’t hurt to be reminded about taking certain precautions and refreshing ourselves on these tips. I was personally reminded about how easy it is to forget some things just recently when my daughter and I went away with friends for a long weekend. It was very hot and sunny where we were and we of course spent time by the pool. While the kids jumped in and out of the pool and went down the water slide the moms stayed pool side and this mom forgot to put on sunblock on her shoulders! I know better and of course I made sure my daughter was covered from head to toe but I forgot my own shoulders and received my first bad sunburn.
I don’t burn easily but when in such hot weather anyone will burn and I was reminded of that quite painfully. In such hot weather it’s easy to get dehydrated as well, I kept drinking the water like you wouldn’t believe, it amazed me how much I drank and yet I was still thirsty so that reminds us how easy it is to get dehydrated in such hot weather. Make sure to read these other helpful tips!

Great review of mostly common sense summer info. People forget to go over common sense items because they think it is so obvious – it’s very good to review certain things that may have changed. When I grew up, ticks were no big deal. In many states we have become hypersensitive to ticks carrying lyme disease and the need to be careful. During the summer there is more hiking and getting out in the long grass areas during one time events. Not sure why, we haven’t been bothered much by mosquitos or bees so far

This is the first bad summer for me. Trying to keep up with the asthma in the hot air, medicines say no direct sun, and feeling sick when I am out too long….I hate it this year! Can’t wait for the cooler temps! Also, watch out for door to door scammers wanting to sell magazines, these have been know to be runaways or homeless that have been promised many things to earn this money. Dropped off and picked up in an area, and live in motels with no communication. Ask if they need to use the phone or are they alright.

I really am glad you posted about summer safety. It’s mostly common sense, but we need to remember that there are so many more things we need to stay on top of.

This is a great guide! Heat Exhaustion is something so commonly overlooked when planning to be outdoors. My biggest outdoor nightmare is always Mosquito Bites 🙁

Thanks for posting this. I too have some kind of magnet in me for mosquitos, but I hate covering head to toe in clothing and smelling like insecticide when I just want to enjoy the sun like everyone else! I like the creative way you posted this.

We are always extra safe when it comes to the kids being safe outside……………all the kids have to stay in two’s and never ever is a young child left with another child. We just had a tragedy here in Wisconsin with a 2 yr old left with his 7 yr old sibling outside and the two year old wandered off and they found the 2 year old almost 1 day later locked in side of a trunk of a car that everyone swore was locked up before the toddler disappeared. Parents have to start be accountable for their children leaving a 7 yr old with a 2 yr old should of never of happened. Educate educate our children and some adults.

I wish that I’d had a poster like this before Vacation Bible School. Some of the parents could benefit from this information.

I have to stress this – Moms, (and Dads) – watch your kids around the pool! So many little ones wander into an unfenced pool, either at home, or visiting. DO NOT LET YOUR LITTLE KIDS OUT OF YOUR SIGHT when there is a body of water nearby. PLEASE! I used to live in Las Vegas (where everyone had pools), and kids drowned every year after wandering into the pool. Keep an eye on the back door!

The worst thing for me is insect bites. Mosquitos and Black Flies when I go up to moms.
