Powered by Mom introduces the first bread in English Canada to have Vitamin D – Stonemill Bread!
It’s not often I’m envious of people in Ontario but I have to admit when I found out about Stonemill Bread I got a twinge of jealousy! You may think I’m exaggerating but I’m not as I love bread but I try to choose healthy breads that also taste good! Stonemill Bread is available all over Ontario and parts of Atlantic Canada but sadly not here in BC yet, so I’m hoping it will come soon so I won’t be jealous of people in Ontario any more. Want to know why I’m jealous? Read on 🙂
I just learned about Stonemill Breads and from their values alone I’m quite impressed with this company. I’d like to share a snapshot of their values before I talk more about their Vitamin D powered bread. I wish that more companies had such admirable values!
Snapshot of Stonemill Bread values
Stonemill believes in the “3 P’s” philosophy: people, planet, prosperity.
People : our strength.
Stonemill Bakehouse embraces everyone with dignity and respect, fairly and equitably.
Planet : our home.
Stonemill Bakehouse believes that a sustainable life is essential to all of us, our children and our children’s children. At Stonemill Bakehouse we feel it is our responsibility to reduce our environmental footprint.
Prosperity : our tool.
Without a prosperous business environment Stonemill Bakehouse would not be able to fulfill our promise to provide our team members with rewarding careers, support organic and alternative farming and products, or initiate and follow through with innovative business practices.
Like I said admirable and worth sharing but now let’s talk about some yummy and healthy bread. That’s right healthy bread can be delicious but I love what Stonemill has done. This is just amazing did you know that Stonemill Bread has 25% of daily value (%DV) of vitamin D per serving (2 slices). This is almost as much Vitamin D as a cup of milk AND it’s more that what’s in egg yolks, fortified orange juice or soy beverages! Wow!
I’d rather have a slice of sprouted 3 grain bread or Chia bread than a glass of milk as I don’t care for milk. This sounds like a yummier way to me to get our vitamin D. It seems that even though we all know vitamin D is important to our health and nutrition, many Canadians still aren’t getting enough of it! Come on my fellow Canadians now we have no excuses when you have options like Stonemill Bread especially those of you in Ontario!
