Can you stop smoking today?
Most people would answer no to that question as I’ve heard how hard it is to quit smoking cold turkey. Some people can do it but I’ve heard it’s not easy. I’ve never been a smoker but I can relate as my father when I was young he was a heavy smoker and then my family found out I was allergic to the smoke itself. It caused me to become quite congested, red in the face and it was hard to breathe.
As my mom did not smoke either she insisted that my father stop smoking. First they bought some air cleaners which was not that common in the late 70s but it was needed to help clean the air so I could breathe better. I’m not sure how he did it but after having smoked since the age of 13 my dad did quit cold turkey! Now that I’m an adult (for many years lol) I realize how hard that must have been. I have a few friends who have tried to quit without success and they really, really tried, I can’t imagine how hard it is and I think most people would need some help.
I was reviewing this website that is recruiting people for a new smoking cessation study. They are looking for people motivated to quit smoking. The logo for it is above EAGLES and even though I know the statistics around smoking was bad I was still shocked to read that “every year, four million people die of smoking-related diseases. This is an average of one death every eight seconds.” That’s just downright scary!
If you know anyone who might be interested in participating in the study please feel free to let them know about EAGLES!
