  11. I remember sitting down to watch movies with my poppy and we would watch son-in-law while everyone was cleaning up. He started laughing so hard he couldn't breathe and had tears running down his face 🙂 I look back on that fondly now as he has passed away

  12. My favorite Thanksgiving memory is from when I was a little girl. We lived in Chicago, but we would travel back to Ohio each year to spend Thanksgiving with family. One year, my grandmother allowed me into the kitchen to "help" for the very first time. I felt so grown up and so special. No one was allowed in the kitchen when Grandma was cooking. Now, I live in Georgia, and I can't get back to Ohio for Thanksgiving anymore. I sure miss my Grandma, but I know she'd be proud that I'm still carrying on her recipes and traditions.

  13. The year my grandma taught me how to make the gravy. Nobody could EVER cook quite like her, and she didn't really believe in measuring tools so it got a bit interesting learning how to make things from her - but to this day I still usually make the gravy for family get togethers & I always remember her laughing when she tasted it that first time - she was so proud that I got it right!

  20. My favorite memories of Thanksgiving are trying out new recipes with my kids every year. They get excited to help with some parts of making the dinner and feel a sense of pride when it is all put out on the table. And everyone once in a while we find a recipe that becomes an every year tradition!

  23. My favorite memory from Thanksgiving would have too be from last year. It was the last Thanksgiving with my father-in-law. My now husband and his sister have not gotten along for many years and as we were going to sit down at the dinner table, my FIL sat down, my husband next to him and then his sister right to him. The whole dinner they got along. We did not know that would be our last Thanksgiving with him. He passed that Sunday following Thanksgiving.

  25. My favorite memory was the first time I ever baked the ham for our thanksgiving dinner. Not knowing anything about it and being new to cooking, I forgot to take the plastic off of the ham. It's tradition for my children to remind me about that every Thanksgiving and Easter. It wasn't funny at the time but it's hilarious now. 🙂

  29. I love Thanksgivings since I've had my kids because family is the biggest blessing to be thankful for.
In the past before I was married we would all gather at either our house or my aunt's for dinner with
everyone bringing a dish so it wasn't so much for the host. It was a lot of fun but most of the family
from then has passed but I still have the memories.

  31. I absolutely love Thanksgiving! I loved it as a kid because we didn't eat family meals together very often, but Thanksgiving was always a day when we ate together. I remember having to sit at the "kids" table and then finally one year when I was old enough I got to move up to the "grown up" table and I thought that was the coolest thing ever. I love showing my kids though that this time of year is a time where we should tell and show our family how much we love them and we should realize that we are very blessed and we should be thankful for everything we have. I love family and the holidays.

My favorite memory is when I got chicken pox over Thanksgiving, so my dad stayed home with me and took me to White Castle for supper and we went driving around looking at the "Thanksgiving" lights. To this day we still eat White Castle for lunch on Thanksgiving and the kids love this tradition.

  35. Ironically, my favorite Thanksgiving memory is the year I was about 8 or 9 and I was so sick that I couldn't eat anything except clear fluids. We had 20+ people at our tiny 3BR house. (We usually had only about 8-10 ppl for holidays). It was like something from a movie or a tv show. Kids being kids, more food than we had ever seen, perfect fall/football weather. I watched everything from the couch, snuggled under my blanket, being waited on when I wanted something and left alone when I didn't. It was perfect.

  42. My favorite memory is from childhood, when my parents were together and my grandmother, Great Aunt, and Great Uncle were all alive. We would all sit around the huge dining room table and had family time. My grandmother was always in the kitchen helping my mother and my Uncle Ted was always fixing my Great Aunt Ann's shirt.. he always liked her looking perfect, which she always did. My dad would be in charge of picture taking and always wore a sweater. I remember every detail of those times and I miss them. I miss that my daugthers don't have family in the area that is able to come and spend the holidays with us.

  62. My favorite Thanksgiving: budgeting enough money to buy all the food (plus some for the following weekend and week) for a Thanksgiving dinner for a neighbor who was a single parent and was unable to work due to an injury. The surprised look on their faces and their appreciation was unforgettable and no other Thanksgiving has made me feel more thankful than when I spent my energy, time, and resources to help this family have a great Thanksgiving.

  66. I don't really have one favorite, but a culmination of them.. Thanksgiving at my husband's Grandparent's was always special. They are both gone now but the memories of them still bring my to tears because from the time they met me they folded my into their family and treated me like I was their own. And for me, lightening struck twice because his step grandparents treated us the same way when Hubby's moma remarried. Thankfully they are still with us and we'll have another meal to savor with them!

I will not go into great details but my aunt was well known for her rum cakes. But this particular time she kept running out of her rum for the cake and some extras ended up in each of the cakes. Need I say more. Boy do I miss my Auntie Bay.

  70. My favorite Thanksgiving memory is from quite a long time ago. We were having dinner at my grandparents' house, and my brother went into the living room (where Grandpa put the pies to cool) to help him carry in the pies for dessert. He picked up the pumpkin pie, on its cooling rack, and proceeded toward the archway that would bring him to the dining room, and as he approached the door, the pie slid off of the rack and fell pie side down onto the floor. It didn't fall apart into a big mess, and we still ate it (Grandma was a neat freak when it came to her floors), but he ran and hid under a bed because he was so embarrassed, and still hasn't lived it down 20 years later.
