Do you know an aspiring chef?
If you know a teen who has a passion for creating edible delights and wants to pursue it as a career what better way to start them off in the right direction than to apply for a scholarship! The Art Institute has Best Teen Chef and Culinary Scholarship competitions.
The Art Institute encourages talented future chefs to enter their Best Teen Chef Competition for high school seniors or The Art Institutes Culinary Scholarship Competition for high school graduates. If you know such a high school senior or graduate who wants to pursue a culinary career by first learning and mastering the discipline then this is the competition for them to apply to!
The Art Institute awards three tuition scholarships int eh amounts of $4000 & $1000 to the top two high school seniors and $1500 to the top high school graduate! There’s no time to wait though as the deadline for entry is January 24, 2013. If you think that date still gives them plenty of time as someone who advised and worked with prospective students I would have to advise you that it’s not a long time all.
When it comes to applying for the scholarships and awards the rule of thumb is the earlier the better as often times they applicants have to get references, transcripts, sometimes there are interviews and so much more. For this competition part of the application process is to submit a short essay and their favorite recipe. Check out the video below to find out more about the process!

I wish they would have had this when I was a kid.
