Tips to Find Healthy Options in Your Grocery Store

Whether you're already on the journey to trying to eat healthier or just starting out it can be tough to navigate through all of the information, labels and more to figure out healthy options for your food. Many of us know it's a good idea to read the labels of any packaged food but how many are doing it? We're sharing some tips to make it easier to help you find those healthy options at your grocery store.healthy optons

We have been compensated for this post but as always all opinions are 100% our own

Make a Healthy Grocery List

Sure we'd all love to have nothing but healthy and tasty food on our grocery list but it's not always easy to figure out what the healthy options are. I know some people like my husband and even myself sometimes either glance at the labels because I'm too busy to read it thoroughly or if you're like my husband you look at the label and it's got so much information your eyes glaze over or it might as well be in another language.

So how can we make it easier when it comes to navigating labels and nutritional regulations so we know which ones are the healthy options? Look for tools and resources that make it easier for us like HueApproved. They have come up with a tool that will rate your grocery items on a scale of 1-7 letting you know how healthy it is. If it's a 1 it's not as healthy, if it's a 7 you've got yourself a winner.

HueApproved helps you choose healthier products and/or you can find out if the product/s you are purchasing are good for you whether you're in the store or shopping online! This fabulous resource will become available April 2019 and you do not want to miss out in being able to benefit from it for your healthy lifestyle journey.

Having healthy eating habits starts with the food you buy. Think simple. Easy home cooked meals, colorful food in terms of fruits and vegetables and nutritious products with clean labels will help you on your path to being healthy. Incorporating healthier food is a great start to a healthier lifestyle so make it easier on yourself to be on that path by utilizing great tools like HueApproved.healthy options

HueApproved uses the nutrition label or recipe analysis to check protein, fiber, sodium, sugar, and saturated fat. It can tell you if what you're selecting is the healthier choice. They also look for & provide recipes developed by their HueChefs that are made with whole minimally processed ingredients and if it's packaged foods then those with fewer additives. Again remember simple is better and healthier.

Choose Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Over Canned Foods

Canned foods can be higher in sodium and have additives and other ingredients you don't. If you can't do all fresh fruits and vegetables then go for frozen over canned goods.

Skip the impulse purchases like those candies near the check out aisles. Have you ever noticed that the majority of those items are unhealthy snacks candies etc..? It's that last-ditch attempt to get you to buy something you don't need but might want or crave which leads me to another tip...

Don't go grocery shopping hungry. We've all done it, myself included after a busy day and before dinner running to the store after work to pick up something to make for dinner.  At that point my stomach would be grumbling and just about everything looks good including a pie or two.healthy options

Developing our behaviors around cooking, eating and grocery shopping matter. We need to make time to cook at home but let's face it we all need more convenient options too. Using a helpful tool like HueApproved gives us that, it helps us to make the best choice for what we're looking at. If we have to have some packaged food, let's make the best choice possible.

HueApproved envisioned a pattern for a good food day based on nutrients, ingredients, and behaviors. Then they developed a tool to assess how well a product or a recipe compares to that pattern on that scale of 1 to 7 that we've already mentioned. So that when you go to use it it's as easy as 1-7, the closer to 7 (or 7 of course) the better.

Help yourself make better choices, and make it easier for yourself to know what the healthy options are by utilizing amazing tools like HueApproved. 1. These are good tips! I eat pretty healthy most of the time. Shopping when I'm hungry is where I sometimes mess up. I end up buying something like chips or candy.

  4. Fresh produce is the main ingredient in everything I eat. I shop mainly the perimeter of the grocery store. I especially love to keep healthy foods in my home because I have 2 young daughters. I want them to grow up enjoying healthy foods, and they do.
