One of the most fun vacations we had a few years ago was in Cancun Mexico and we loved it! My husband and I had been to Cancun several years ago before our daughter was born and we loved it. So when our daughter was old enough we thought let's bring her there as there's some much to do there with kids.

Our daughter also loved it and still talks about it years later! What's not to love to see how gorgeous it is there?  The picture above was taken at Riviera Maya near Playa de Carmen, read more below this and other fantastic places in Mexico you can go with the kids!

Beach and Park Fun
Beaches, of course, are always a hit with kids, and Mexico does beaches very well. The range of resorts varies from the huge and all-inclusive to the more peaceful.

Cancun is one of the popular spots and there are plenty of good reasons why. For sheer beauty, the powder white beaches and crystalline waters are hard to beat, and there are plenty of opportunities for snorkelling, kayaking and sailing.

Top attractions for kids include Parque Nizuc – home to the Wet’n Wild water park and dolphin centre Dolphinaris. At Wet’n Wild kids can play in the wave pool, slide down the Twister or Kamikaze slides, or float down the Lazy River. Dolphinaris has interactive programmes where kids and adults alike can swim with dolphins and learn a little about the behaviour of these fascinating creatures, as well as getting to know how to look after them.

South of Cancun, in Riviera Maya, there are a host of animal-themed attractions and eco-parks. Animal parks include Croco Cun Zoo, a crocodile zoo and conservation facility. Xcaret, meanwhile, is an archaeological park combining the story of Mexico’s history, complete with costumes, dancing and night-time shows, with attractions including a coral reef aquarium, butterfly pavilion and dolphin swim centre. Xel-Ha is an aquarium that also provides opportunities for kids to swim with dolphins as well as snorkel and generally splash about and have fun.

Here's a picture of our daughter at Xel-Ha her favorite part of the trip as you can see and why 🙂

Mexico City Attractions

Mexico City has more than its fair share of attractions to keep little ones entertained. Kidzania is a grown-up environment for kids, where they can choose a career, go to work, earn money and then spend their cash on activities from shopping to craft sessions. The Midi Museum is a finance and economics museum where you can design your own money, play the stock exchange and explore the balance between economics and sustainable practices.

Missing the animals? Take a trip out to Farm Tio Pepe, a petting zoo where kids are encouraged to learn about farming through interaction with animals including pigs, sheep and goats. Kids can pet chicks and baby rabbits, help with milking a cow, or go horse-riding. Or they can pick their own veggies in the vegetable garden and then prepare a delicious pizza at the clay-fired oven.

Mexico has so much to offer for families that a trip there is bound to be a hit with the kids. Your only issue will be choosing which part to visit!

  2. I was just in Cancun this past February. Sadly, I was there for a convention and didn't have time to explore the area. I do know that the beaches are absolutely gorgeous. I would love to go back with my husband, so that we could see the sights together.

  7. I'd love to visit Mexico. But, I hear that it's getting pretty dangerous for tourists down in Mexico these days. I'd still like to find a really nice beach area that's not over-ridden with crime yet. This place sounds pretty nice! Thanks!!!

  20. We went to that part of Mexico a couple of years ago, with older children. We did the watersports, cave snorkling, ceyote cliff jumping, swam with turtles at Akumel, went to Tulum, climbed Coba pyramid. It was a great adventure!
