The warmer weather is finally here and that means pet-owners are itching to get outside with their pets, however, there are important things to consider before grabbing the leash or reaching for the door.

Spring and Summer come with many invisible threats for pets, such as ticks, fleas and other pests which can cause serious problems for pets, but also the whole family if not cared for.

  • Properly maintaining and cleaning your pet's play area at home, where ticks and other pests can lurk
  • Protecting your pet from other animals outdoors
  • Maintaining your pet's summer coat (especially for dogs)
  • Protecting your pet's paws from hot ground
  • How to keep pets properly hydrated
  • Keeping dogs happy on long walks
  • Protecting your pet from warm-weather pests that can spread diseases like Lyme disease

Please remember comments do not show up right away I manually publish each and every one so that I can read them 🙂

  1. Too bad I missed the question. I get worried about ticks and fleas for my little dog. She's an inside dog so most of the time she's fine but I'd love to take her on walks through the park. She can't do conventional flea and tick products due to allergies and skin irritations which we found out about the hard way. It's very important to care for your pet. They are all unique and take time, care, and lots of love...my dog Missy would add that treats are great, too! 🙂

  2. I have a pit bull mix named Prada who loves to take long walks!!! I do get worried about her because it seems like she never wants to drink her water. I offer it to her all of the time. What else can I do??

    • Hi Nicole, unfortunately I already had the interview before you posted but Jarod did mention that our dogs will let us know if they're thirsty. I know when our boxer/ridgeback was still with us she didn't really drink when we walked either but she seemed okay.

  3. I wish my little Maxie was still with me and I would have asked how to best travel in a car for a couple of days with a pup. Maxie died two months ago and I am still grieving her loss.

  4. My dog use to love riding in the car but lately he whines and moans. He is getting older (9 years old) and I am wondering if he is getting car sick, and if so is there something I can give him before we go in the car?
