Weight management for pets is vital for their health & happiness
Weight management for pets is just as important is it is for humans
According to a 2016 survey an estimated 58% of cats and 54% of dogs in the United States are overweight or obese. I’m not sure what the statistics are in Canada but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were similar. We all know that obesity can be a health risk for people and the same holds true for our beloved pets. That’s why weight management for pets is so important.
If we want our pets to happy and healthy for a long time we need to be vigilant about weight managements for pets too. It’s not their natural instinct to become overweight when in the wild, but with domesticated animals they need some help from their human family.
It has been shown that even a slight increase in weight for dogs can decrease their lifespan by about two years.
I know that all the dog lovers (and cat lovers) out there like us want their pets to be around for as long as possible and that they’re healthy too. Our dog Luna who now at the grand old age of 12 is a senior dog and because of her decrease mobility she’s not getting the kind of exercise she used to be able to do. She has gained some weight and we’ve had to take measures to counteract that.
With Luna being less active and moving slower we have had to watch her weight even more. We’ve always given her good quality food and are even happier that she’s on Petcurean Now Fresh. Petcurean is high quality pet food, we’ve talked extensively with our local pet food store, a small local business who practically gushed about the quality. They had more expensive brands but they confirmed what I’ve already researched and seen, Petcurean is a great choice for our senior dog. So much so that we’ve agreed to be Petcurean ambassadors and both our dogs and our cat Oliver are now only eating Petcurean.
For Luna she’s on the senior Petcurean Now Fresh dry food and she loves it. Even Oliver the cat tried to eat it silly boy, probably because it was right there on the floor it was easy pickings for him. The ingredients are as fresh as you can get them without anything in it to worry about. Take a look at the ingredients yourself below.
In addition to visits to the vet, low impact exercises to keep Luna moving, Petcurean Now Fresh is helping us Luna’s weight management. She may be a senior gal but she has lots of spunk and we’re helping her to be as healthy as possible in her golden years. Fortunately Luna also loves the taste of Petcurean, she acts like it’s a treat.
Just remember, appropriate exercise for your dogs age and physical level, quality food and weight management for pets will all contribute to keeping them healthy and happy in their senior years. Regular visits to the vet are also an essential part of keeping your dog healthy.
