Zojirushi Water Boiler and Warmer Review

Have your tea, mug of soup & more instantly with a Zojirushi Water Boiler and Warmer.

My husband has a thing for his cup of noodle soups and I like to have some tea now and then. However, I don't like to make a whole pot of tea and I admit if I have to wait for the water to boil I tend to skip the tea. Well I don't have to skip it ever now that I have my Zojirushi Water Boiler and Warmer again.

The Zojirushi Water Boiler and Warmer is a Powered by Mom Holiday Gift Guide Pick.

As someone who started helping out in the kitchen when I was a small child I'm pretty well versed in running a kitchen as a wife and mother. For years I've been making delicious meals for my family, relying on the traditional ways my mom and grandmother taught me all those years ago as a child. As much as I do enjoy finding new recipes and being able to provide a warm meal every night for my husband and daughter, life does get kind of chaotic and every once in a while I'll cut corners. Sometimes I'll indulge in a pre-prepared meal or frozen vegetables to say time or when I'm just too worn down to cook.

I'm also no stranger to appliances that make my time in the kitchen easier. One great example of this would be a great little machine that I was able to include in our gift guide this year, the Zojirushi Water Boiler & Warmer. I personally love the Zojirushi brand because I grew up with it in my house when I was a child and we had several of their products, including an old model water boiler. During recent years I've kept the brand in my home and we've had several of their water boilers in the past but the opportunity to review the latest model was such a good opportunity I simply couldn't pass it up.

The Micom Water Boiler & Warmer by Zojirushi really is a nifty gadget to have in the kitchen. We've used it in a variety of ways since receiving it. My husband and daughter like to use it for making soup cups and hot chocolate while I generally use it for my tea. It comes pre-programmed with 4 different keep warm settings that allow you to brew anything from green tea to french press coffee. It also features a convenient quick temp mode that heats the water without bringing it to a boil, allowing you to save both time and energy while reducing steam output.

Added features of the Micom Water Boiler & Warmer include:

  • Micro computerized temperature control system
  • Cafe drip dispensing mode for slower dispensing
  • Energy-saving timer function
  • Easy-to-hear sound indicator to alert completion of boiling process

My family and I have been happy to have the Micom in our home since it arrived. It has been so convenient and easy to use, we've really enjoyed being able to incorporate it into our kitchen routine so far.

  1. I like that the zojirushi-water-boiler-and-warmer has a Removable magnetic power cord and the
Safety auto-shut off because Im good about forgetting 2 unplug or turn items off. We have a hot pot but the zojirushi-water-boiler-and-warmer would be so much safer 2 use and it has alot more temp options:) Our city water has 2 be boiled @ times 2 be safe 2 drink because of unsafe stuff in the water so this water boiler would be perfect at our house.

  5. I love that you can dispense with the touch of a button and that it keeps the water warm. I love hot tea but hate waiting for my water to boil.

  6. I could use this for tea or coffee, or let my daughter take it to college- she would probably use it for Ramen noodles.

  7. Our water is kind of "yeuky" so we use a Berkey Filter with ours...this may help purify it more. Also, we don't own a stove/range and right now heat our tea water in the microwave....this would elimiate the need to do that!

  8. This water boiler/warmer would be perfect for this tea drinker. I like that it holds 3.0 L - plenty of heated water for my tea and hot cocoa for the kids. Hubby would use it for his soup packets.

  9. I have never heard of this appliance before. We make a lot of soup cups and tea. This would keep everyone from fighting over the microwave.

  10. The four different temperature settings are so nice. The kids have tea when they feel ill and being able to control the temperature versus just Hot, means they get to drinking tea and feeling better faster. The automatic shut off is also wonderful.

  17. This is great, I love that it offers different settings, it would be perfect for our house. We make tea and hot cereals and soups all day long. How great to not have to heat water in the microwave. With MS, I have a hard time moving something from the microwave without dropping it. With this I could just get it out of the machine.

  18. I didn't know that these actually existed lol. I hate it when hubby and my daughter need to boil water and they put a kettle on the stovetop and forget about it. 🙁 The 4 settings on this, as well as the ease of use and the safety shut off feature are definitely appealing!

  19. I think that the temp mode that heats the water without bringing it to a boil, would be great. I do not like extremely hot water in my drinks and it sounds like the ability to keep the hot water at a slightly cooler temp would be perfect

  20. I absolutely LOVE the fact that it displays the temp of the water so you can set it to whatever temperature you want or need! This makes it convenient when doing say hot cocoa for the little ones, verses a piping hot cup of tea for yourself!

  24. My Zojirushi rice cooker is my favorite kitchen appliance, and from what you're saying about their Water Boiler and Warmer, it would give my beloved rice cooker a run for its money. I love that it has an energy-saving timer, and the auto-shutoff is a great safety feature. Thanks for your review!

  27. This is such an awesome product! I would really love to be able to have boiling and hot water at my fingertips! My family of 8 has to take turns with the microwave, this would be ideal for all those instant drinks that are enjoyed by all during the winter.

  28. I love the way that you can set the temperature so easily. That makes it easier than guessing how hot the water will be when using other methods. This is a very handy tool to have.

  29. The 3 features that are most appealing to us are the energy-saving function, the 4 temperature choices, and the noise alert. We are big coffee, tea, and hot chocolate drinkers so this would be perfect. Coincidentally, I just ordered a Zojirushi 20-ounce travel mud, having read that it's the best one can get. Thanks!

  33. The safety, auto shut-off option is great. It will come in handle so as to not cause overheating. I think your review gives a good look at the product so that I will know what to expect.

  35. I would love to own this for my green tea and nstant soups instead of having to boil in a pan when I need hot water. I love this! I love that it dispenses the water and I don't have to pour it in the cup and chance being burned.

  36. I'm going to be moving to New England. While I can easily wait for my water to boil in California, I don't think I'm going to want to wait in the harsh East winters. I think this is the perfect solution for that.

  37. I love the quick temp mode. Not everything I would use it for requires boiling water. And I like the cafe drip mode. Very useful for us single cup coffee drinkers!

  38. I'd love this! I like how you can set the timer to boil water when you want to, and also you can keep the water at a certain temperature. This would be so amazing in my kitchen! Thanks for the chance!

  39. That would be so handy to have at work for desk lunches! Hot soup, tea, instant noodles -- I'd get a lot of use out of this when I'm busy and don't have time to walk to a food place.

    Reply
  40. I just now read on the top of the review how you said the boiler is good for the cup soups. That is exactly what I said. I like that there is a slow feature to fill those cups and bowls for a single serving of Ramen or Soup.

  41. My coffee machine that I use to make tea, coffee, and boiling water has officially quit working. I need to replace it now as I use it every single day.

  42. Growing up my mom always has one similar to this. But now this is much better that it can keeps the water warm without boiling it again. Really love it!

    Reply
  43. I like the energy saving timer function. Six hours is enough to have hot water available for a long time; much longer than coffee pots that turn off after only two hours.

  44. Great review! This would be ideal for the office. I could make hot cocoa, oatmeal, hot tea or even instant coffee without having to get up from my desk. Love it!

  45. This is so cool. I love to drink tea, but I am not a good multitasker. I usually put the water on the stove and promptly forget about it. Next thing I hear is sizzling of the empty pan with the water having all boiled off. It is not good. This would solve that problem for me.

  46. This would be great at home for hot chocolate and oatmeal, but I would LOVE to get one for the library I work at. This would be fantastic for a cold, rainy day (like today) for a cup of tea whenever we want!

  47. I like the ease of those pod coffee makers but I do not like the environmental impact of all those pods. One person in the family drinks hot chocolate, one wants tea, the other coffee, and who wants to wait for water to boil? This Zojirushi could be the answer.

  48. This is really neat! My daughter makes tea often in her dorm room. She has a microwave but doesn't like to use it if she can avoid it. She often goes to her friends room who has an electric tea kettle. I have thought about getting her one of those, but I like this much better! I love that it has temperature controls!

  49. I cannot get enough of a good cup of tea. So seeing this I thought it would make a nice Christmas present for me, and make life a little easier around the kitchen.

  50. My daughters and I just love everything Japanese (anime, manga, culture, food) and we frequent a huge Japanese marketplace just outside of Chicago. I've seen several Zojirushi water dispensers there and have really been wanting one. The quality of these units is amazing, and there are so many things I would be able to use one for. One of my daughters and I are really into tea, and prefer old-fashioned brewing over using a pod-type machine for it. I also buy a lot of instant soup packets from the Japanese market (I especially love the creamy corn soup). Of course, there's things like ramen, too. I'd definitely get my use from one of these.

  51. This is soooo superior my electric kettle....it holds so much more water, it has way more temperature options, I love the removable cord, and I don't think my kettle has micro computerziation! We use our electric kettle for beverages too, and we also use for hot water to jump start boiling for cooking rice or quinoa or pasta.

  52. I don't own anything from this brand. This sounds like a great addition to the countertop. My kids would use it for mac n cheese cups and my mom would use it for tea. I like hot water with lemon in the morning. This machine would provide multiple applications for our family.

  53. Wow, we could definitely use a device like this. As a family of 5, we do a lot of fresh pressed coffee, hot cocoa, oatmeal and more.

  54. I like that there are 4 pre programmed settings. Making it easier for those who are not used to a lot of different buttons and can get-to what they want right away.

  55. Boy would this come in handy at my house. From the grandchildren making hot chocolate and cup of soups to me making my hot teas, it would probably never get turned off. I love that it has 4 temperature levels and that it has a sound indicator for when the water is ready. The safety auto-shut off is a big plus for me too.

  57. Love that I don't have to boil a whole kettle of water or that the water won't boil away because I got caught up in a phone call. Great for hot chocolate for the children after a day of play outdoors or a cup of tea in the afternoon to stave off hunger before mealtime. Great for warming or reheating.
