Imagine it's a couple of weeks before Valentine's day and while you are searching high and low for that perfect gift for a special someone, an envelope arrives. You almost toss it out, aside from the formal looking return address, that looks like it's from a legal firm and the high quality of the paper. Little do you know that your romantic adventure has already begun. 

Over the next couple of weeks, you'll receive more and more to unravel the mystery.

Do You Play Along?

Over the course of a few weeks, you get a few more envelopes, and even a small crate that's nailed shut. It seems like something out of a novel, and in a way it is. It's the story you get to unravel about two lovers lost to each other across time. This brilliant gift is the brainchild of the Mysterious Package Company, and certainly the most romantic of their experiences. So it's important to check your mail closely for anything strange and unusual as this puzzle, called Tempus Fugit, makes the perfect gift for adventurous and puzzle-loving couples no matter the time of year.

Work Together as it Unravels

That's the genius behind these story puzzles. It starts with just a hint, one that almost seems like a ridiculous scam. "Your mysterious uncle [CUSTOMIZED WITH YOUR NAME] left you an inheritance." But as more and more arrives, you learn the tragedy that ultimately befell him and the love of his life. The clues can be deciphered on your own, but it's much more fun to work together with someone to bounce your ideas off each other, much like an escape room. Each person usees their unique skillset (or Google) to solve each piece and the story falls more and more into place.

The quality is what makes it so believable. Letters are sent with legal letterhead on top-notch parchment. Real scraps of newspaper, stamps from foreign countries, and in this case, materials true to the era fill each missive. It will blow you away. Promise. It did me. The crate is solid wood, with an aged label and real metal fittings. It is legitimately nailed shut. I had to break out my hammer to prise it open and I still broke one of the corners.

I would also recommend opening it in an easy to clean up area. The artifact you receive is packed securely in straw like packing material. It, once again, lends credence to the legitimacy of the items, but it is a bit of a mess. Absolutely every piece was properly addressed to me and me alone. Each clue looked and felt like it came from the era it is dated from.

Will You Solve the Mystery and Keep the Artifact Safe?

There's a quick peek, but really, it's up to you to solve the mystery of Tempus Fugit.  I had an incredibly fun time going through it myself and even sharing it with my family over Christmas. It is a wonderful story and everything you are left with is so well done, it's display worthy. I'll have the artifact on display in my home soon. I love it. And I shall protect it and pass it down as instructed by the heroes of the story. You do not need any special skills to solve this, nor have fun with it. You get 3 total mailings revealing the story.

Admittedly, if I had received Tempus Fugit completely out of the blue I would have been genuinely skeptical and confused at first. That's part of what makes it a fun gift. Get this for your special someone and you can either tell them straight up it's a fun puzzle to solve or you can have fun and play along until the end. Helping to solve it with the giftee while feigning ignorance of its source until the final missives arrive. If they just aren't playing along, you keep working on these mysterious mailings until they have no choice but to be too curious not to help. *wink wink*

It is SO much fun and it's SO unique and SO high quality, there is no way to go wrong with this. Sure you can get it for yourself and have plenty of fun with it, but how much more fun is it to get someone else in on it too? Just be sure that is you are getting it timed to a special event that you plan ahead and give enough time for each piece to arrive. The final piece you receive is the gorgeous envelope you saw at the beginning of this post and right above. It reveals the sender of the gift experience and kind regards from The Mysterious Package Company.  It's a thoughful and totally unique way to have fun together; great for the puzzle loving people you know.
