Support Your SleepSleep well with a Saatva Luxury mattress

With all the new styles of mattresses out there these days it's not uncommon for innerspring mattresses to get a bad reputation. However, they are still around for a reason. You just need to be sure you pick the best for you and your comfort. Do some research! Make sure the coils are well made and that there are plenty of them. Those coils also need a good base support structure. Innerspring mattresses often offer better lumbar support in their beds with extra beams, coils, densified foam toppers, or a combination of these.

Having a pocketed innerspring mattress is also healthier! Air can circulate within the mattress because of the pockets, better evaporating perspiration and deterring dust mites and germs. Plus it helps you to sleep cooler since the air can circulate, better regulating the temperature of the mattress itself.

Don't forget to find out what's around the edges of your mattress. How many times do you sit on the edge of your bed getting ready for the day or for bed? The edges of a bed see a lot of abuse, so you need to make sure they hold up for the duration of the life of your mattress. Nothing is worse than sitting on the bed and it slouching down. Look for the little details like pocketed coils, the materials used to make the mattress like high qualify steel and organic cotton, and how the mattress is topped as well. It's not uncommon for innerspring's to be topped in foam and a pillowtop for extra plush comfort.

Once you have your mattress it's important to keep it in good shape. After the first month, rotate it once. Then every 3 months or so rotate it 180 degrees. All mattresses require a period of breaking them in, but you'll know if it's right for you. It will be supportive where it needs to be supportive and still be soft enough on your pressure point to not cause any discomfort.

Clearing the MindSleep well with a Saatva Luxury mattress

So now you've got the perfect mattress, it's all set up and you're ready for bed. There are still things you can do to help you fall asleep and sleep well. Even if you are brand new to the idea, meditation is wonderful for helping you clear your mind and get to sleep. There are a number of helpful apps and podcasts all available. All you have to do is relax on your comfy organic cotton pillowtop and listen.

Some meditations have background music that is nice and calming as well as binaural beats. These beats, or tones, match the wavelengths your brain naturally emits. By shifting through various beats, your brain will sync with what is being played. As the beats shift into more sleeplike tones, so does your brain. Also, consider reading a book. A real paper book. Electronic reading devices can still emit enough light to interfere with your body's sleep cycle, so pick up an old-fashioned book and escape for a bit.

This is also where it's wonderful to have the best materials in your mattress. Organic cotton is soft and breathable, making you more comfortable. It also does not have any annoying chemically smells that other foam mattresses tend to emit for the first couple of weeks. This lets you focus directly on your comfort and less on the bed itself.

Supplementing Your SleepSleep well with a Saatva Luxury mattress

There are also ways to supplement your sleep if you're having trouble. The smell of lavender is very conducive for falling asleep. It's incredibly relaxing. Sprinkle some lavender infused water over your bed, dab some high-quality lavender essential oil on your neck and the bottoms of your feet, or get an essential oil diffuser for your nightstand. You can hang dried sprigs of lavender near your bed, or even grow a small pot of fresh lavender in the room.lavender essential oilAlso, consider trying the natural supplement of melatonin. Your body naturally produces melatonin to help you fall asleep, but it's triggered in your body by the dark. In our light-filled worlds, it throws off our natural body processes and our body sometimes stops producing enough on its own. Taking a natural melatonin supplement can help you sleep well all night.

Be sure you have the proper linens that keep you cool or warm, and comfortable. Using the right pillows for your head and body can properly support your body alignment so you are refreshed for your day.

Having the perfect mattress is truly essential for the best night possible. So much can go wrong with your body physically and mentally if you don't get a restful and comfortable sleep. There are so many ways to help you sleep well, and not every tip works for every person, but these are the most common. First and foremost, be sure that you have a high-quality mattress to sleep on, and everything else will fall into place.

  1. WOW this is a lot of great information! You had me when I read this -- "Having a pocketed innerspring mattress is also healthier! I have wanted/needed a new mattress for a long time. But it is a lot of work to find the right one and then the delivery set up etc.

I am going to look at these with the adjustable bed I have COPD and arthritis so this is what I need.

  2. The Saatva is a mattress I'd love to have. Mine is ancient, I know I need another, this is incentive to get on it - their service sounds the best too!
